How can I search for a book?

The search bar on the website Home Page on blackwells.co.uk is the quickest way to find a particular book on our website. 

There are lots of ways to search. The best way to search is using the ISBN of the book if you have it, then click on the magnifying glass to see the available options.

Looking for one book in particular?   You can also try searching for the author's name and/or key words in the title of the book,

You can also use the 'Advanced search' to streamline your search if you wish.

How can I place an order?

If you have an account, Log in first, and use the search bar to look for the book you require. 

Alternatively, simply search for the book you require and order via our Guest Checkout without creating an account. 

To place an order with us, follow these steps below:

• Search for the books you wish to purchase using the search bar. Click on the magnifying glass to start your search.

• It will then bring up suggestions from your search to browse. You can click 'Add to basket' or click on the image icon to lead through to the book page and find out more information about the title. 

• On the book page, you can find out all the information you may require about a book, including price, publication date, the dispatched period, size specification and the publisher synopsis.
  
  
• NB Before placing an order with us, please take note of the usually dispatched within period located under the add to basket button. Most books are usually dispatched within one, two or three
  Business Days depending on where the stock is located. Others may take 7 days or 2-3 weeks.
  
  
• If the 'Usually Dispatched' time is too long, you may wish to check the Reserve & Collect options in the event that a shop local to you has the book in stock.
  
  
  
  
• Once you have found the book (or books) you're looking for, click 'Add to basket'. Your basket is where you'll find all the books contained within your order before payment. Click on the basket icon in the top-right hand corner of the page to review your choices.
  
  
• In your basket you can review your order to make sure you are happy with your purchase. Here you can change a quantity, by editing the number and clicking update or remove an item should you no longer wish to purchase.
  
  Once you are ready to purchase, click 'Checkout' to pay and complete your order.
  
  
  
  
  
• If you've forgotten to log in, or you want to create an account, you can do so at the top of the checkout screen. With an account, you can view, manage, and check the status of your order.
  
  
• Fill in your details and billing address as required. You will see it also appear as you type on the right-hand side.
  
  
  
  
  
• If you would like your order to arrive at your billing address, please move on to payment.
  
  
• Should you wish to select an alternative address for delivery, select 'Different delivery address', it will offer the option of changing the delivery address to one of your choosing. 
  
  
  
  
  
  
• You can also add a gift message and a custom order reference, eg for a purchase order number.  Click on 'Yes' on either or both fields and add the information as necessary.

• We accept payment by Blackwell's Gift card, National Book Token, Credit/Debit card and PayPal. Please select the payment you wish to use for your order and follow the next steps to input your payment details.
  
  Please note, if using a Blackwell's Gift Card and/or National Book Token, it is only possible to use one of each card alongside a credit/debit card or PayPal payment.

• Once you have filled in your payment details, please check all information is showing to be correct on the right-hand side and then click the 'Complete Order' button. You will then see a screen saying thank you for placing your order, along with your order number. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided.

Free Reserve and Collect In Store

All books in stock within our bookshops are available to Reserve and Collect. This service offers the option of reserving the item to visit the bookshop to pick-up and pay. If a book is available, it will appear on the book page as shown below.

If you would like to see all bookshops that currently have a copy available for reservation, press 'Check stock elsewhere' and it will bring up a list of all bookshops who currently have a copy available to reserve. Click 'Reserve Now' and it will take you to the reservation form.

Here you can fill in all of your contact details, to allow the bookshop to reserve the book for you and so you be informed when it is ready for collection. You will receive an email advising once the book is ready for your arrival.

How can I pre-order a book?

To pre-order a book, search for the book you'd like and click the blue pre-order button.

Proceed to the checkout. (Top tip, it's worth having an account so that you can track the status of your pre-order!)

Your basket can be found in the top right-hand corner of the browser.

Can I pay in another currency?

It is possible to purchase in a range of currencies with us. Your browser should automatically pick the currency most situated to your location however, should you wish to pay in another currency, you can manually change this. Up in the right-hand corner, if you hold your curser over the drop down menu above the basket icon, it will bring up all payment options, with thirteen currencies to choose from.
